Celebrating the Launch of a Prestigious New Lions Club, Colombo LEADS

On August 16, 2020, the Lions Club of Colombo LEADS celebrated a significant milestone with its inauguration ceremony held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The prestigious event was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Past International President Mahendra Amarasuriya PMJF, whose attendance added immense value and honor to the occasion.

The club’s inception was spearheaded by Founder and Extension Chairman, Lion K K N K Chinthaka, and it was officially registered during the tenure of PDG Mahinda Perera FDI PMJF MAF JP. The ceremony saw a distinguished gathering of Lions leaders and cabinet officers who have been instrumental in shaping the Lions movement in the region. Among the notable attendees were PCC PDG Chamindu Abayawickrama PMJF MAF JP, PCC PDG Vijitha Manamperi PMJF MAF JP, PCC PDG Diresh Hettiarachchi PMJF MAF JP, PDG Amara Dissanayake PMJF MAF JP, PDG Deshabandu Dr. Chandra Perera MJF MAF JP, and PDG Ananda Balasuriya PMJF JP. Their presence truly colored the event, reflecting the strong support and unity within the Lions community.

The event was further enriched by the enthusiastic participation of cabinet officers, Lion leaders, and members from various other clubs, whose collective presence was highly appreciated. The support and encouragement from these esteemed guests underscore the collaborative spirit and commitment to service that defines the Lions Club.

A momentous highlight of the day was the acknowledgment from PIP Mahendra Amarasuriya, who commended the club’s exceptional quality and diverse membership. He noted that the Lions Club of Colombo LEADS stands out as a pioneering example, with its high standards and inclusive nature. He also mentioned that, despite visiting clubs all over the world, this was the first time he attended a club of such exceptional quality. His positive remarks serve as a testament to the club’s dedication to excellence and inclusivity. Furthermore, it is notable that the Lions Club of Colombo LEADS is the first club sponsored by District 306 C1, marking a special milestone.
