IMMEDIATE PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT / CHAIRPERSON FOR LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION
Brian E. Sheehan, from Bird Island, Minnesota, USA, was elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 104th International Convention, June 22 through June 28, 2022. As of July 11, 2023, he will serve as Chairperson for Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) through June 25, 2024.
Past International President Sheehan is the founder and CEO of Rural Computer Consultants, a software development company.
A member of the Bird Island Lions Club since 1991, he has held many offices within the association, including council chairperson, long range planning chairperson, membership chairperson, retention chairperson, women’s initiative chairperson, MD convention chairperson, GMT Liaison and GLT area leader. He has also served as the chairperson of the Headquarter Operation & Finance Committee, Lions University coordinator, DGE group leader, and board appointee to several committees including Constitutions and Bylaws, LCIF Executive, LCI Executive, USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum and the Centennial Action committees. He has been a presenter at numerous Lions events, including many of the Global Forums.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including Club Lion of the Year; the District 5M 4 Diabetes Awareness Award; the MD 5M Web Site Appreciation Award; the MD 5M Al Jensen Leadership Award; the Founders Membership Growth Award; numerous International President’s Certificates of Appreciation; International President’s Leadership Award; multiple International President’s Awards; and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and Second Century Ambassador.
In addition to his Lions activities, Past International President Sheehan is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He has served as president of Bird Island Civic and Commerce, director of the Learning Funhouse and as a member of various school committees. He also received the 2011 U.S. SBA Minnesota Small Business Person of the Year Award.
Past International President Sheehan and his wife, Lori, also a Lion and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two sons and two daughters. And in their spare time, they have enjoyed raising many types of exotic animals.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Douglas X. Alexander, from Brooklyn, New York, USA, was elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 103rd International Convention, June 25 through June 29, 2021. He served as Chairperson for Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) from June 29, 2022 through July 11, 2023.
Past International President Alexander is a retired vice president for J.P. Morgan Chase Bank.
A member of the Brooklyn Bedford Stuyvesant Lions Club since 1984, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, region chair, vice district governor, district governor, cabinet secretary, cabinet treasurer and DGE group leader. He also served as a Lions Eye Bank transporter, a member of the District and Multiple District PDG Association, a trustee of the New York State and Bermuda Lions Foundation, and was appointed as the Lions representative to UNICEF-New York from 2012-2014. He has served on the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum Planning and Host Committees and has been a presenter at several USA/Canada Forums.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including the club Lion of the Year, Club President’s Award, the Robert J. Uplinger Service Award, several District Governor Appreciation Awards, and the Multiple District Membership Growth Award. He is also the recipient of numerous International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, multiple International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is a Dr. Franklin G. Mason Fellow, a W. P. Woods Fellow and a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Past International President Alexander is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He has served as chairperson of the advisory board for the New York Urban League and as a board member of the St. Francis DeSales School for the Deaf. He is also a recipient of the Congressional Record Award.
Past International President Alexander has two daughters and a grandson who are the joy of his life.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Dr. Jung-Yul Choi from Busan, Republic of Korea, was elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 102nd International Convention, held in Milan, Italy, July 5 through July 9, 2019. He continued on to serve a second term as international president through June 29, 2021, following a resolution passed by the international board of directors. As of June 29, 2021, he will serve as Chairperson for Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) through June 30, 2022.
A member of the Busan Jae-il Lions Club since 1977, Past International President Choi has held many offices within the association, including club president, cabinet secretary, district governor and international director. He also served numerous times as a DGE Group Leader and served on 11 committees as a member of the International Board of Directors. In addition, he was a chairperson of the 39th OSEAL Forum in 2000 and a host committee chairperson at the 95th Lions International Convention in Busan in 2012, the largest convention ever held in Lions history.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past International President Choi has received numerous awards, including the Humanitarian Partnership; Senior Master Key Award; 100% District Governor Award; multiple International President’s Leadership Awards; multiple International President’s Awards; and an Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past International President Choi is chief executive officer of Koala Company, Ltd., an international trading company, and is also a past director of the Busan Sports Association.
Past International President Choi and his wife, Seong-Bok, have one son, four daughters and two granddaughters.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT / CHAIRMAN FOR LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION
Gudrun Yngvadottir, from Gardabaer, Iceland, was elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 101st International Convention, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, June 29 through July 3, 2018. As of July 9, 2019, she will serve as Chairperson for the foundation through June 30, 2020.
Past President Yngvadottir is a biomedical scientist and has worked in research, education and management. Since 1990 she has worked at the University of Iceland as Vice Director at the Institute of Continuing Education.
A member of the Gardabaejar Eik Lions Club since 1992, Past President Yngvadottir has held many offices within the association, including district governor council chairperson. She has dedicated her service to children and youth; membership and leadership development; health and environmental projects and Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).
Past President Yngvadottir served as international director 2010-2012 on the Leadership Committee, as chairperson the second year; 2011-2013 on the Women’s Task Force; 2012-2013 she was a board appointee on the District and Club Service Committee; and 2013-2014 on LCIF Governance Ad Hoc Committee.
In recognition of her service, she has received numerous awards including International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest Lions Clubs International award. She is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to her Lions activities, Past President Yngvadottir is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Icelandic Association of Biomedical Scientists and has been its representative for cooperation between Scandinavian and European scientists.
Past President Yngvadottir and her husband, Dr. Jon Bjarni Thorsteinsson, a past international director and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have one son, one daughter and six grandchildren.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Dr. Naresh Aggarwal, of Batala, Punjab, India, was elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 100th International Convention, held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, June 30 through July 4, 2017.
Past President Aggarwal is chairman of companies specializing in steel and agricultural products.
A lifetime member of the Batala Smile Lions Club since 1974, Past President Aggarwal has served with great distinction as club president and international director. He also served as chairman of the Council of Governors for MD 321 in 1989-90.
Past President Aggarwal served as international director from 1998 to 2000. He earned great appreciation by achieving significant membership growth while serving as Global Membership Team area leader. He was a faculty and group leader for DGE Seminars at three International Conventions. He also served as international board appointee three times, and as Global Leadership Team constitutional area leader (CA-6).
Past President Aggarwal is trustee and vice chairperson of Lions Quest in India Foundation and has also served on the National SightFirst Committee. He is the chief patron of Dainik Prarthana Sabha, which operates charity projects in Batala. He is vice president of Age-Care India, a charitable society for the care and welfare of elderly people. He has been trustee and patron to many other projects.
Past President Aggarwal has received 23 International President’s Medals and the Ambassador of Goodwill Award.
He is a major lead gift donor and humanitarian partner of Lions Clubs International Foundation. Past President Aggarwal and his wife, Navita, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have two sons, one daughter and seven grandchildren. Dr. Naresh also shares a birthday with the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Chancellor Bob Corlew, from Milton, Tennessee, USA, was elected to serve as president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 99th International Convention held in Fukuoka, Japan, June 24 through 28, 2016.
Past President Corlew is retired as chancellor for the State of Tennessee and a professor of law.
A member of the Murfreesboro Noon Lions Club since 1978, he has held many offices within the association, including charter club president, zone chairperson, district governor, cabinet secretary and council chairperson. He has been instrumental in the chartering of a number of new clubs. Most recently, he worked to charter a new club comprised of lawyers and judges, which gained more than 75 members during its first year.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including the Leadership Award, the Builder Key Award, three International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Vanguard of the Melvin Jones Memorial, a Progressive Lindsey-Jennings Fellow and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, President Corlew has been active in the Boy Scouts of America, the Jaycees and the American Red Cross. He has also served as a councilman in Milton and was a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve.
President Corlew and his wife, Dianne, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have five children and eight grandchildren.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada, of Minokamo, Gifu, Japan, was elected to serve as president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 98 th International Convention held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, June 26 through 30, 2015.
Past President Yamada is a neurosurgeon.
A member of the Minokamo Lions Club, Past President Yamada has been a Lion since 1985. He has held many offices in the association, including district governor and GLT constitutional area vice leader. He served on the international board from 2005 to 2007 as a member of the Executive Committee and the Long Range Planning Committee and Vice Chairperson of Convention Committee. He also served as a board appointee for 2011-2012.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past President Yamada has received numerous awards, including the Humanitarian Partner Award, 10 International President’s Awards and an Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past President Yamada is chairperson for several organizations including the Social Medical Corporation Koseikai, the Kizawa Memorial Hospital, the Social Welfare Corporation Jikeikai, Nozominooka Hospital and Ajisai Nursing College. He is a standing director of the Japan Hospital Association and an affiliate professor at Gifu University.
Past President Yamada has been active in the area of international relations, serving as president of the Gifu-Hungary Friendship Association, Gifu-Morocco Association and Gifu-Salzburg Association. He is a recipient of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, the Medal of Honor of the Alaouite Dynasty of the Kingdom of Morocco and an honorary citizen of Beijing City, China, in recognition of his service to international friendship building.
Past President Yamada has one son, one daughter and three grandchildren.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
oseph “Joe” Preston, of Mesa, Arizona, USA, was elected to serve as president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 97th international convention held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, July 4-8, 2014.
Past President Preston is a fleet sales manager.
A member of the Mesa Thunderbird Lions Club, Past International President Preston has been a Lion since 1974. He has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, district governor and council chairperson. In addition, he has served as leadership, Lions Quest and MERL chairperson for his multiple district. He was also chairperson of the 1994 International Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, and the 2003 USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum in Portland, Oregon; and a national multinational coordinator for Campaign Sight First II where he exceeded his goals.
In recognition of his service to the association, Preston has received numerous awards, including the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor Award, a Key Member Award, a Medal of Merit, 11 International President’s Awards and an Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor granted by the association to its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Preston is past president of United Way of Yavapai County and a former board member of the Lions Foundation of Arizona.
Past President Preston and his wife, Joni, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have two sons, one daughter and nine grandchildren.

Barry J. Palmer, of Berowra, NSW, Australia, was elected president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 96th International Convention, held in Hamburg, Germany, July 5 through 9, 2013.
Past President Palmer was a real estate company director.
A member of the Hornsby Lions Club since 1976, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, cabinet secretary, cabinet treasurer and district governor. He has served on numerous committees and as the Host Committee Chairperson for the 2010 Lions Clubs International Convention in Sydney, Australia.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past President Palmer has received many awards, including the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor Award, nine International President’s Medals and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past President Palmer is a recipient of the Australian Medal issued by the Australian Government, the Australian Childhood Cancer Research Award and the Spastic Centre of NSW Award. He was a Pioneer Volunteer at the Sydney Olympics and a member of the New South Wales Paralympic Committee.
Past President Palmer and his wife Anne, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have three children and eight grandchildren.

PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Wayne Madden, from Auburn, Indiana, USA, was elected president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 95th International Convention in Busan, Korea, June 22 through 26, 2012.
Past President Madden is an insurance agent and a certified insurance counselor.
A member of the Auburn Lions Club since 1984, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, region chairperson, state council chairperson and district governor. In addition, he is a past president of the Indiana Lions Foundation. He served as a District Governor-elect Seminar faculty member five times, as Campaign SightFirst II sector coordinator for Multiple District 25 and as vice-chairperson of the Global Action Team.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past President Madden has received many awards, including the 100% Club President Award, Life Membership in the Association, the Senior Master Key Award, four Extension Awards, an International President’s Leadership Medal, 13 International President’s Medals and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is a Charter W.P. Woods Fellow, a Kentucky Colonel, a Duke of Paducah, a Helen Keller Fellow and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In 2008, he was recognized for his humanitarian service by the governor of Indiana as a Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest honor the governor can bestow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past President Madden has been active in numerous professional and community organizations, including as member of the Auburn City Council.
Past President Madden and his wife, Linda, also a Lion and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two daughters and five grandchildren.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Wing-Kun Tam, of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), The People’s Republic of China, was elected president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 94th International Convention, held in Seattle, Washington, USA July 4-8, 2011.
Past President Tam is the chairperson of a multi-national group of companies specializing in aviation and travel business.
A member of the Mt. Cameron Lions Club since 1981, he has held many offices in the association, including Campaign SightFirst multinational coordinator and OSEAL recording secretary, SightFirst China Action executive chairperson, 2005 International Convention Bidding Committee executive chairperson and honorary Host Committee chairperson. He has served on the international board for 11 years and three years on the executive committee.
Past President Tam has been a member or chairperson of many government and community service boards and committees of the Hong Kong SAR Government. He served as Hong Kong District Affairs Advisor before the establishment of the SAR in 1997. He has been the Hong Kong Convention Ambassador since 1995.
He is the recipient of Her Majesty the Queen’s Badge of Honor, the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and the Bronze Bauhinia Star from the British and Hong Kong SAR governments. He is a Justice of the Peace in Hong Kong and the appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kenya in the Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR of The People’s Republic of China.
In recognition of his service to Lions Clubs International, Past President Tam has received numerous awards, including the Campaign SightFirst National/Multi- National Coordinator Award, the International Lion of the Year Award (2003) and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association gives to its members. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and Campaign SightFirst Lead Gift Donor.
Past President Tam and his late wife, Irene, have three children – Alvin, Tiffany and Andrew.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Sid L. Scruggs III, of Vass, North Carolina, USA, was elected president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 93rd International Convention, held in Sydney, Australia, June 28-July 2, 2010. Past President Scruggs is a retired military and commercial airline pilot and a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.
Using as his presidential theme A Beacon of Hope, Past President Scruggs made service to others – the core principle of Lions clubs around the world – the focal point of his presidency.
A member of the Vass Lions Club, he has held many offices in the association. In addition he has presented at the USA/Canada and Europa Leadership forums and served as an instructor for the Lions Clubs International Leadership Institute and the District Governors-elect School.
In addition to his Lions activities, Past President Scruggs served many years as chairperson of the board of directors of the North Carolina Governor Morehead School for the Blind. He is also a life member of the American Airlines Grey Eagles Association and the Naval Academy Alumni Association.
He has been presented with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest award given by the State of North Carolina, by the Governor of North Carolina. He is a member of the North Carolina Lions Hall of Fame and in 2010 he was elected to the United States Blind Golf Association Hall of Fame. He has received an honorary doctorate of humanities from World University.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past President Scruggs has received numerous awards including the Key of Nations Award for sponsoring more than 100 Lions members, and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association gives to its members. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
Past President Scruggs and his wife, Judy, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have four children and 16 grandchildren.
IMMEDIATE PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Eberhard J. Wirfs, of Kelkheim am Taunus, Hessen, Germany, was elected president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 92nd International Convention, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, July 6-10, 2009. Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization and the global leader in humanitarian and community service.
Past International President Wirfs, an entrepreneur and retired CEO of his own company, is a pioneer in the marketing of frozen food specialties across Europe.
Past International President Wirfs is an experienced and effective leader with particular strength in membership development and extension and leadership training, and in combining service and fellowship.
A member of the Hofheim am Taunus Lions Club since 1985, Past International President Wirfs has held many offices within the association, including club president, district governor, council chairperson, faculty group leader for the District Governors-elect Seminar, which trains incoming governors, and international director. He served as CEO of the German Lions Foundation, Deutsches Hilfswerk. In addition, he systematically implemented Lions Quest, a mentoring program for young people, in Germany. He is an honorary member of the Kelkheim am Taunus Lions Club.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past International President Wirfs has received numerous awards, including the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. At the 2010 Lions Clubs International Convention in Sydney, Australia, Past International President Wirfs was presented with the Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
Past International President Wirfs and his wife, Margit, also a Melvin Jones Fellow, have two sons. Oliver and daughter-in-law, Sandra, have one daughter, Hannah-Carlotta. Marcus and daughter-in-law, Pauline, have one son, Anton.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Albert F. Brandel of Melville, New York, USA, was elected president Lions Clubs International at the association’s 91st International Convention, held in Bangkok, Thailand, June 23 through27, 2008.
He is a retired police detective. For many years he investigated child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence involving children and missing children.
A member of the West Hempstead Lions Club since 1975 and an associate member of the Melville Lions Club, Past International President Brandel has held many offices in the association, including club president, district governor and international director. He has also served as a presenter and panelist at USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forums. He worked with the Long Island Lions Eye Bank as a transporter and has been the Lions Representative to UNICEF in New York for 10 years. He helped coordinate Lions relief efforts at the World Trade Center following September 11, 2001. He is currently the chairperson for Lions Day with the United Nations.
In recognition of his contributions, he has received numerous awards, including the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor Award and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest award the association grants to its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, he has served as a Little League volunteer and as a Eucharistic minister. He is a former member of the board of directors of the United Nations Association of the USA.
Past International President Brandel’s wife, Dr. Maureen Murphy, an anesthesiologist and a Lion, practices at a community hospital. They both are recipients of the New York State Liberty Medal for their work in Haiti and the President’s Call to Service Award from the President of the United States of America.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Mahendra Amarasuriya of Colombo, Sri Lanka, was elected president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 90th International Convention, held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, July 2-6, 2007.
He is a graduate of the University of Ceylon with a Bachelor of Science degree. He has participated in the Top Management Course at the International Institute of Management in Lausanne, Switzerland. He has also acquired considerable experience in the field of management over the last 40 years as a director and chairperson of many prestigious companies in Sri Lanka.
Past International President Amarasuriya is the chairperson of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon Limited and three other blue chip companies, as well as a board member of many other blue chip companies in Sri Lanka. He is also a past chairperson of the International Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, Employers’ Federation of Ceylon, the Employees’ Trust Fund Board, the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka and the National Agribusiness Council of Sri Lanka.
A charter member of the Lions Club of Galle (pronounced Gaul), he has held many offices within the association, including district governor from 1978 to 1979, council chairperson from 1979 to 1980 and international director from 1991 to 1993.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including many membership awards, the Master Key Award, eight International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, eight International President’s Awards, the Leadership Award and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor bestowed upon association members. He has also received the 100% District Governor Award, the Extension Award and the 15-Year Perfect Attendance Award. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
Past International President Amarasuriya resides with his wife, Lion Kushlani, also a Melvin Jones Fellow, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
PAST INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
Jimmy M. Ross of Quitaque, Texas, USA, was elected to serve as 2006-2007 president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 89th International Convention, held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA June 30 – July 4, 2006.
Past President Ross is a rancher and a retired judge.
A Lion since 1969, Past President Ross is a member of the Quitaque Lions Club. He has held many offices within the association, including club president, multiple district secretary, state membership & extension chairperson, multiple district convention chairperson, multiple district council chairperson and international director. Additionally he has taken part in eyeglass recycling missions to South America and been involved in chartering more than 500 clubs.
Past President Ross has also been active in numerous professional and community organizations. He was a member of both the Water Control & Improvement Board and the District Juvenile Probation Board and chairperson of the board of the All Emergency Systems in 26 counties of Texas.
Past President Ross’s special interests have been in membership extension, the strengthening of clubs and community service. In recognition of his work on behalf of the association, he has received many awards, including District Governor Appreciation Awards, International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor bestowed upon association members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

Ashok Mehta, of Mumbai, India, was elected to serve as the 2005-2006 president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 88th International Convention in Hong Kong on July 1, 2005. His theme was “Passion to Excel.”
Past President Mehta, chairperson and managing director of a company in India, is actively associated with more than a dozen major medical, educational, welfare, social and cultural institutions.
A Lions member since 1963, Past President Mehta organized more than 30 eye-camps all over India and Africa. He mobilized international support during major catastrophes, including earthquakes and super-cyclones in India. His peace mission to Pakistan, promoted by Lions of the two nations, added to the spirit of building bridges between the people of these countries.
Past President Mehta served on the Campaign SightFirst International Committee from 1990-95, collecting US$150 million for the project. He has also presented papers on sight conservation and other topics at Lions international forums and conventions.
Because of his outstanding leadership and contributions, Past President Mehta has received many awards including Lions clubs’ coveted “President’s Medallion” for the last 23 years, the Lions International Key Award and Medallion for sponsoring 250 new members and 19 extension awards for organizing new clubs. The Jaycees of Mumbai declared him “Man of the Year” in 1986. The government of Maharashtra appointed him to the Senate of Mumbai University where he served on committees for awareness and prevention, as well as Sheriff of Mumbai for a one-year term in 2001. He was awarded an honorary doctoral degree in humanities from the University of the World in Missouri, USA.
Past President Mehta has participated in 24 Lions conventions, 14 USA/Canada Forums, 25 Africa forums and five Lions conferences in far eastern countries. He has been a member of the faculty at 10 District Governors-elect Schools and chairperson of the District Governors Orientation program at the 75th International Convention in Hong Kong.
Past President Mehta and his wife, Kokila, and daughter, Sheetal, are all progressive Melvin Jones Fellows.

Clement F. Kusiak, of Linthicum, Maryland, USA, was elected to serve as president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 87 International Convention, held in Detroit, Michigan, USA/Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on July 5 – 9, 2004.
Past President Kusiak is an engineer by profession and a retired manager for a corporation in Baltimore, Maryland.
A member of the Baltimore Brooklyn Lions Club since 1966, Past President Kusiak served as an international director on the association’s board of directors from 1988 to 1990. Past President Kusiak was a member of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum Planning Committee. He was also program chairperson for the Lions Eye Health Program (LEHP) and advisor for the national rollout, as well as chairperson of the District Governors-elect School in 2001-02.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past President Kusiak has received numerous awards, including the 100% Club President Award, the 100% District Governor’s Award, an Extension award, four International President’s Leadership Awards, seven International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor bestowed upon association members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. During his year as president, he received an honorary doctorate degree from two colleges – the Pennsylvania School of Optometry and ISFOA (Finance and Business Management College) in Italy.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past President Kusiak is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He has served on numerous committees, such as the Atlantic Region’s North American Membership Program, the Development Task Force and the Heritage Committee of Baltimore, Maryland.
Past President Kusiak and his wife, Jeanne, also a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two deceased sons, a grandson and a granddaughter.

Dr. Tae-Sup “TS” Lee, of Seoul, Republic of Korea, was elected to serve as president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 86th International Convention held in Denver, Colorado, USA, June 30 – July 4, 2003.
Past President Lee is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), USA, with a doctorate in chemical engineering. He has been the president of several companies in Korea, served four terms as a member of the Korean National Assembly and was his country’s Minister of Political Affairs and Minister of Science and Technology. He is currently serving as chairperson of Campaign SightFirst II and as chairperson of the board of the Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences. This institute has under its umbrella the Korea Cancer Center Hospital, the largest cancer treatment hospital in Korea.
A Lion since 1975 and member of the Seoul Sejong Lions Club with 32 years of perfect attendance, Past President Lee has held many positions within the association, including district governor and council chairperson. He served as an international director on the association’s board of directors from 1993 to 1995. He also was chairperson of the 32nd OSEAL Forum and co-chairperson of the Host Committee for the 78th International Convention.
Past President Lee has received numerous awards in recognition of his service to the association, including several International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest award the association grants to its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and the recipient of Lions Clubs International Foundation’s Silver Humanitarian Partner Award.
Past President Lee and his wife, Haing-Ja, also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two sons and five grandchildren. Both sons and their spouses are Melvin Jones Fellows.

J. Frank Moore III, of Daleville, Alabama, USA, was elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 84th International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, July 2 through 6, 2001.
Past President Moore is an educator by profession and a former superintendent of education for the Daleville City Schools in Daleville, Alabama, USA.
Past President Moore has held key leadership positions in Lions International, most recently serving as the Executive Administrator & Secretary of the association from 2017-2021. He served as chairperson of the Centennial Action Committee that oversaw the four-year celebration of the association’s first century of service, vice chairperson of Campaign SightFirst II—the most successful fundraising initiative in the history of the Lions Clubs International Foundation—and is currently serving as the vice chairperson of Campaign 100, the LCIF campaign to raise $300 million to support our global causes.
Past President Moore has received numerous awards in recognition of his service to the association, including the Friends of Humanity Award presented by Lions Clubs International Foundation, and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also an LCIF Humanitarian Partner.
In addition to his Lions activities, he is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is a member of the Army Aviation Museum Foundation Board of Directors, a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church and is treasurer of his church. He is also a former chief executive officer of the Association of the United States Army.
Past President Moore and wife, Rita, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have two daughters and a son—who also are Lions—and seven grandchildren.

Jim Ervin, of Albany, Georgia, USA, served as president of The International Association of Lions Clubs following his election at the association’s 82nd International Convention, held in San Diego, California, USA, June 28-July 2, 1999.
A member of the Albany Lions Club since 1977, Past President Ervin has held many positions within the association, including club president, zone chairman, district governor and council chairman. He was an international director during 1992-94. Past President Ervin served as chairman of the Lions Clubs International Foundation during 2000-01 and presently serves on the SightFirst Advisory Committee. He is also a past director and trustee of the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation and the Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind.
Past President Ervin has received numerous awards in recognition of his service to the association, including an Extension Award, a Guiding Lion Award, two International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, nine International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past President Ervin is a member of several business, professional and fraternal organizations.
Past President Ervin lives with his wife Sharon Dillard and has four children and five grandchildren.

Kajit “KJ” Habanananda from Bangkok, Thailand, was elected to serve as international president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 81st International Convention, held in Birmingham, England, June 29-July 3, 1998.
Past International President “KJ” Habanananda became a Lion in 1965 and is still active in his Multiple District 310 (Thailand) to this day.
He believes that the true strength of Lions Clubs derives from quality membership, extension and youth activities. And that Lions must always adapt and adjust to their changing world.
Past International President Kajt “KJ” Habanananda was appointed as the Chairperson of the Global Action Team (GAT) in 2019. His main focus for the GAT is to support districts’ efforts to achieve their goals, as well as to provide constant support at the club level in the areas of service, membership and leadership development.
He is one of the highest progressive Melvin Jones Fellows and was the first Lead Gift donor for LCIF. He is the recipient of many local and international awards including the Ambassador of Goodwill Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members.
Past International President Kajit “KJ” Habanananda is fond of flying, reading and
golfing. Although he has retired, he has a wide range of professional experience including oil, airlines, tourism, aerospace, telecommunications and international consulting.

Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Grimaldi, of Enna, Italy, served as president of The International Association of Lions Clubs following his election at the association’s 77th International Convention, held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, July 12-15, 1994.
Past President Grimaldi is a neuro-psychiatrist, an Emeritus Head Neurologist and a former university professor of neurology. He is also the author of several scientific, social and Lion publications.
A charter life member of the Enna Lions Club, with a record of 39 years of perfect attendance, Past President Grimaldi has served as club president, zone chairman, deputy district governor, district governor and president of the Europa Forum. He served a two-year term as a member of the association’s board of directors from 1972-74 and was a board appointee from 1986-87 and 1996-97. Past President Grimaldi is a founding member of the Association of Italian Lions for Diabetes.
In recognition of his many contributions to the association, Past President Grimaldi has received a 35-Year Charter Chevron, the 100% District Governor Award, three Extension Awards, the Leadership Award, 25 International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor given by the association to its members. He is also an honorary president of his district Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past President Grimaldi is a past director of the Italian Medical-Surgical Order and a past member of the Medical Court of Justice. He is honorary president of the Higher Court of Justice for the preservation of the “Mediterraneo” and a member of the Italian Red Cross and many national and international academies. For his humanitarian and civic commitment, he has received awards from UNICEF, UNESCO and the International Red Cross. He was awarded with the decoration of “Cavaliere di Gran Croce,” the highest recognition granted by the Republic of Italy, and was recognized as “The Man of the Year” by receiving the “Premio Garipoli.” He has also won various awards for his poetry. Past President Grimaldi is an honorary citizen of several cities in the United States, Latin America, Australia and Africa and is an appreciated speaker worldwide. He is the recipient of two Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Science awarded by the University of Prague and the Optometry College of Philadelphia.
Professor Grimaldi, the first Italian to serve as international president, and his wife, Ariane, have four sons and six grandchildren.

Rohit Mehta, of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, was elected president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the 75th annual convention, held in Hong Kong, June 23- 26, 1992.
Past President Mehta is the chairperson of several companies in India engaged in the businesses of textiles, engineering, medical products and energy. He is also associated as a director in many other companies.
A member of the Ahmedabad Lions Club since 1956, Past President Mehta was the founder of the first club in his state. He has served as zone chairperson, deputy district governor and district governor and was a member of the association’s board of directors from 1970-72. Past President Mehta was also the editor of THE LION Magazine in India for many years. Past President Mehta is chairperson of a 100 bed Lions Eye Hospital in Ahmedabad and chairperson of Lions Quest in India Foundation.
For his contributions to the association, Past President Mehta has received five Extension Awards, a Master Key Award, 21 International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor granted to a member by the association. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Past President Mehta is active in numerous charitable organizations, several professional organizations, and has served as president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Past President Mehta and his wife, Asha, have two sons and four grandchildren.

William L. “Bill” Biggs of Omaha, Nebraska, USA, was elected president of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 73rd International Convention, held in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, July 11 through 14, 1990.
Past President Biggs is an attorney in private practice with the firm of Gross & Welch in Omaha, Nebraska.
A member of the Omaha Westside and North Fresno Lions Clubs, and a Lion since 1962, Past President Biggs served as an international director in 1983 to 1985, and as an appointee to the International Board from 1985 to 1989. He has also been a district governor, council chairperson, vice chairperson and chairperson of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum. He served twice as chairperson of the District Governors-elect Seminar. He has served as multiple district membership chairperson and regional coordinator for membership. He is currently serving as chairman of the board of directors of World Services for the Blind for a two-year term.
Past President Biggs has received numerous awards in recognition of his service to the association, including an Extension Award, 20 International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. He is a 10 diamond Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, a Life Member and a Key Member.
Past President Biggs is active in professional organizations including numerous community groups. He currently serves as general counsel for the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; Past President of Hope Medical Outreach Coalition, which provides free medical services to over 15,000 people annually, serving the underinsured and uninsured in the Omaha metropolitan area; and a former member of the board of directors of Together, Inc., which provides food and clothing to those in need in the Omaha community. Past President Biggs was also chair of the board of directors of Wright & Wilhelmy, a hardware wholesale distributor, headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. He has served his community as a member of the board of directors of the Omaha Symphony and the Omaha Community Playhouse.
Past President Biggs and his wife, Past International Director Dana Biggs, a Melvin Jones Fellow, have five children, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Judge Brian Stevenson, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was elected to serve as president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 70th International Convention, held in Taipei, Taiwan in July 1987.
A Lion since 1966 and member of the Calgary Northeast Eyeopener Lions Club, Past President Stevenson has held numerous offices in the association, including district governor, council chairperson (1974-1975), member of the association’s board of directors (1977- 1979), and presidential appointee to the international board on four occasions (1979-1980, 1980-1981, 1998-1999 and 2002-2003). From 1984 to 1987, he served as international third, second and first vice president. In the year following his presidency, he served as chairperson of Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).
From 1991 to 1994, Judge Stevenson served as the chairperson of Campaign SightFirst, which at the time was the largest and most successful fundraising campaign in the history of Lions Clubs International.
In recognition of his many contributions, Past President Stevenson received the 100% District Governor Award, the Senior Master Key, 32 International President’s Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor granted by the association to its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, as is his wife, Lion Patricia.
They are also Second City Ambassadors.
During his many years at the association’s international leadership level, Judge Stevenson has served as Canada’s Constitutional Area leader on the Global Membership Team, as the Canadian Advisor on the LCIF Development Advisory Committee and as Canada’s representative on the association’s Centennial Committee. He currently represents Canada on the Vice Presidential Candidates Evaluation Committee.
In addition to his service as a Lion, Past President Stevenson was a partner in a Calgary law firm and served as a special prosecutor of narcotic offences for the Canadian Department of Justice. He has been a trial judge in the Criminal Division of the Provincial Court of Alberta since 1974. He continues to serve as a supernumerary judge of that court.
Judge Stevenson has served as an advisor to Calgary’s United Way, as president of the Calgary Social Planning Council and as a member of the City of Calgary Social Services Committee. He has also served as president of the Alberta Provincial Judges’ Association and as chair of the International Year of Disabled Persons for the Province of Alberta.
In 1996, the City of Calgary recognized his many voluntary contributions by awarding him the Grant MacEwen Lifetime Achievement Award of Merit. In 2002, Judge Stevenson was honored by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with her Golden Jubilee Medal, and, in 2005, he received the Alberta Centennial Medal for his service to Alberta.
He and Patricia have four daughters, six granddaughters, five grandsons and three great-grandsons.

Joseph L. Wroblewski, of Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, USA, served as president of The International Association of Lions Clubs after his inauguration at the association’s 68th Convention held in Dallas, Texas, USA, June 19-22, 1985.
A member of the Ashley Lions Club since 1954, Lion Wroblewski has served in a number of positions in the association, including 100% District Governor of 14-H, a two-year term as a member of the International Board of Directors from 1976-78, board appointee in 1978-79, international convention chairman 2001-02, chairman of the coordinating committee for China affairs and liaison to the United Nations. Past President Wroblewski is serving as a Lions Clubs International board committee appointee for 2001-02.
For his service on behalf of the association, Past President Wroblewski has received numerous awards which include 20 International President’s Awards, an Extension Award, Advancement Key Award and the Ambassador of Goodwill Award, the highest honor a Lion can receive. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Active in his community, Past President Wroblewski is a past president of Northeastern Heart Association, past president of Pennsylvania Association of Personnel Services, past president of National Employment Association, past member of the board of directors of the Catholic Youth Center and a member of the Pennsylvania and National Funeral Directors Associations.
Past President Wroblewski is a businessman. He and his wife, Normajean, have four children; Lisa (Paul), Joseph (Genevieve), Eric, and Marla (Bryan); three granddaughters; Gennie, Bryanna, Christa; and four grandsons; Eric, Brett, Matthew and Erik.
